So,
dear friends, you will have to excuse me. I worked for 17 years as an
environmental engineer at a very large wastewater treatment plant in LA, and
ever since, I have absolutely zero sensitivity to anything gross. I have
been covered head to toe in shit (from an 8” sludge line pipe flange
burst). After that…nothing grosses me out. So, I’m going to post
some photos you may not want to see. Just browse over.
A picture does speak a thousand words, and takes a lot less time to explain
things.
So. this is kinda gross, but it's a slice of my CT scan from 6/29/2016. The white object at the bottom middle is my spine. The gray object at the top right of it (say about 1:00 or 1:30 o'clock) is one of my enlarged lymph nodes. It is close to 10 cm diameter. It's supposed to be the size of a thumbnail. I have two of these like this, at least. The black stuff in the upper left are my intestines. You can see how at the middle top they have blown through the abdominal wall (the white wall around my innards). That is my hernia from the emergency surgery in February.
Probably TMI. But, I'm an open book...and now, an open abdomen.
Not gross! But the machine that lurks below our skin is completely mind-blowing! Thanks for sharing this fascinating picture.
ReplyDeletethat's really beautiful in an incredibly bizarre way. It totally makes my brain fumble- I want that to be some art on the wall or something- not a record of Patty's Cancer and Guts --a view so intimate it seems like only the angels should be allowed to see. Ha, it's all of the above!
ReplyDeleteWhoa. That is intense.
